One of the most popular timbers selected by Artisan Furniture customers this solid hardwood offers diverse, natural characteristics and durability. The white pigmented oil finish softens the golden hues typical to oak species.

European Oak can be considered more valuable than say, American Oak as a result of a slightly harder and denser quality. It also offers a broader scope of personality in timber grain and pattern. European Oak is in high demand which drives the value of this beautiful resource.

European Oak varies in tone from blonde to soft pink and golden brown. Beautiful knots or burl are natural features as are medullary rays or 'tiger stripes' (an indication that the lumbar has been crafted from quality quarter sawn Oak).

European Oak often compliments Australian Tasmanian Oak or American Oak flooring and joinery.

‘Flawless' is not a natural phenomenon of solid European Oak timber. Raw, authentic wood looks very different to veneer or engineered timbers. These character flaws are actually valued features among wood workers. We encourage customers to visit their local wood worker or wood craft gallery where awareness and understanding of these wood cuts, grains and characteristics can be conclusive.
