Article: European OAK

European OAK
Artisan Furniture offers solid European Oak as one of their most popular timbers. Solid European Oak with white pigmented natural oil finish forms the majority of Tekstura's stock furniture collection.
European Oak can be considered more valuable than say, American Oak as a result of it being slightly harder and denser. It also offers a broader scope of personality in timber grain and pattern. European Oak is in high demand which drives the value of this beautiful resource.
European Oak varies in tone from blonde to soft pink and gold. Beautiful knots or burl are natural features as are medullary rays or 'tiger stripes' (an indication that the lumbar has been crafted from quality quarter sawn Oak).
To note: Artisan's European Oak is often selected to compliment Australian Tasmanian Oak or American Oak flooring or joinery.
Finishes:
- White white pigmented oil A04 - reduces the darker golden hues within Oak timbers. Over time, these golden hues will reappear where the customer may either re-apply the white pigment or allow the natural hue to reveal itself. (Exposure to sun and UV will effect the colour of Oak over time whereby the golden hues will deepen without the white pigment oil).
- Clear oil A03 - This high-quality oil finish creates a smooth, shiny luster that enhances its luxurious look.
- Natural Soap A01
- Matt Lacquer finish - applied as clear or over whitened stain.
