Article: European Walnut

European Walnut

The appeal of European Walnut's deep, rich characteristics with golden-chocolate hues is increased by the broader variation in lightness and colour range than other Walnuts. European walnut also showcases beautiful and varied grain pattern. Generally, the timber is brown with subtle pink, red or purple undertones. Knots or burl in the timber grain provide interesting characteristics.

Walnut timbers are selected for their sophisticated, luxury, dark-warm palette and grain. Enthusiasts appreciate the historical application of this premium wood in furniture craft. Walnut is also introduced within modern interiors to blend lighter and darker timbers together, creating a sense of liveliness and intrigue. Walnut timber is hard, dense, and heavy, which makes it durable and resistant to warping or shrinking. Unlike some woods that darken, European walnut tends to lighten slightly over time, developing a beautiful, soft patina.
