Responsible use of resources

The synthetic virgin backing on all Kvadrat tufted rugs, manufactured in the Netherlands, has been replaced with a 100% post-consumer recycled solution. The recycled backing is made using laminated glass waste from discarded car windshields, preventing them from accumulating in landfills. This initiative not only reduces waste but also aligns with the brand's Conscious Design Principles and Decarbonisation Strategy.

SILHOUETTE & BRAVOURE

Tufted - 100% New Zealand wool

Designed by Hella Jongerius, Silhouette rugs (with fringe) and Bravoure (without fringe) are made with classic, long, tactile yarn fibres. Bravoure is available in 3 pile heights (17, 35 & 60mm). Bravoure is high pile with 6 cm fringes that have four melanges that run from one colour to another, overlapping and providing an inviting visible edge. Silhouette and Bravoure are long lasting pieces, natural and luxurious. Suited to medium traffic.

Hella Jongerius is one of the world’s foremost product designers. She is a prominent force in the Netherlands, her native country, as well as on the international stage where she wins regular accolades for her thoughtful and research-driven work. Since her early work for Dutch design collective Droog, and now at her Berlin-based studio Jongeriuslab, material and process research largely determines her design direction. Her work has been characterised by a unique ability to approach industry
with a craft perspective. In 2013 Hella Jongerius was appointed Design Director for Kvadrat and Maharam’s Amsterdam based rug atelier, she has brought that same craft sensibility, research and experimentation to the textile industry.

READY TO PURCHASE RUGS:

Rug Care & Maintenance
Regular care
Kvadrat rugs are made with care to last. To make sure your rug maintains its vitality and character over a long lifetime, it helps to take good care of it. We recommend vacuum cleaning your rug at least once a week using a vacuum cleaner set to medium power without applying a brush. Always vacuum in the direction of the pile. Please also rotate the rug frequently to prevent wear and fading in the same place. Ideally, the humidity in the room where the rug is located should be around 50%. If humidity falls below 40%, we recommend spraying your rug with water to avoid the yarn to become dry and brittle.
Stain removal
Remove stains immediately. Place a clean, wet cotton cloth and leave it on the stain until it has absorbed it. If needed, dab the stain by working from the edge of the stain inwards. Do not rub to remove the stain. Bamboo viscose Do not walk on or rub a wet bamboo viscose rug, as this will damage the structure of the yarn. It will take a few days for a bamboo rug to fully dry. Silk rugs Every stain, including plain water, should only be treated with soda water. Vinegar or tap water should never be used. We always recommend professional cleaning of the rug when necessary.
