‘This photograph was captured in 2010 when I travelled through Bolivia, Chile and Peru by motorbike. Each country was as wild as the Atacama; a desert of surprising colour and diverse landscape. This trip was one of my greatest challenges in life and the most rewarding. At the entry to the desert, I experienced a special moment when I surrendered to my fears and truly let go. I allowed myself to immerse into the extraordinary landscape, the ice cold conditions, at times, a vapourless air and tough, deep, sand terrain. In that moment I yelled into my helmet and smiled. There was so much joy to be found in the remote and what I personally experienced as beauty’.
